Cleaning & Maintenance

Thursday, September 27, 2018

For optimal performance, it is important to keep thermostat units clean and dust free to provide free flow of air through the thermostat top and bottom vents.

•  If dust is observed collecting around the top and/or bottom VENTS of the thermostat (see picture on the right), it is suggested to use a small (corner/crevice) tool attachment from a housekeeping vacuum cleaner to carefully suction the dust and debris away. Alternately, a small, soft, long bristle vacuum tool may also be used to brush and suction dust buildup away from these vents. Periodic cleaning in this way will guard against fouling and choking effects which might otherwise degrade thermostat function and performance.  To prevent static interference, ALWAYS TURN THE THERMOSTAT OFF (press the POWER button, until no display is observed before vacuuming).

•  Cleaning should be performed only with a soft cloth.  No liquids, including water, detergents or cleaners of any type should be sprayed directly on or at the thermostat.  Liquids which drip or flow into the thermostat may cause immediate or eventual electrical malfunction which is not repairable.  Dripping liquids may also present a personal safety hazard due to electrical shock.

•  Also please note that abrasive or gritty type cleaners and/or plain paper towels may scratch the plastic and lens surfaces.  Use only a soft, dry cloth to clean Optimax.  For accidental heavy soiling consult with HotelTech International Customer Service at 1-800-356-4298.

•  Optimax normally requires NO RECALIBRATION or other mechanical or electrical attention when properly installed and maintained as indicated above..
